Issue #86 features in-depth studies of mail boxes, and bar splices suitable for many architectural applications. Plans, templates step by step illustrations and many design variations make this an issue you don't want to miss

A 9" x 12" envelope will fit flat in this mail box (no more bent Journals if you decide to make one). It is meant to be mounted near a door, in an alcove or under a porch to protect mail from the weather. Plans, templates, step by step illustrations and variations are all part of this feature.

Make these joints, shown in the October issue, by forging the ends of two bars in a similar way, turn one 90°, and rivet them together. Use flats, squares or rounds for items such as balusters, grills and other architectural components.
