The Blacksmith’s Journal is fully illustrated with step-by-step instructions
and shop drawings that show you how to do techniques, make tools, produce architectural
and decorative elements, as well as take you through projects from start to
finish. Design and layout ideas give you the inspiration for the creative use
of these blacksmithing techniques. Each page is purely informational; no newsy
chatter, no announcements, and no advertising mixed into the pages.
No matter what your skill level or interest in blacksmithing, the Blacksmith’s
Journal will most likely have something to offer you. We have published 1,952 pages, 6,900 illustrations and over 480 topics in 13 years. Issues are
punched for standard 3-ring binders so you can take a page out to the shop
or arrange them for personalized referencing.
How do I download single issues in a digital format?
Single Issues, available by electronic downloading, are in the store under the store category called Back Issues. You may purchase them using the shopping cart and there are no shipping charges applied. When you finish checking out, the receipt for your purchase will be displayed on the screen. At the top, you'll see a download link(s) to click to immediately retrieve the issue(s) you purchased. You will need Acrobat Reader (free) to view and print the issue(s) in high quality .pdf format.
Can I order individual back issues in hard copy?
Yes, if they are in stock and in print. Find them in the store under the store category called Back Issues. While viewing them in the product pages, you can choose more than one issue to purchase from each page. After selecting the ones you want, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Add to Cart". This is an easier way to put them in your shopping cart when ordering several back issues at a time.
How do I know what is in the back issues?
Check out the index to help you see what topics have been
covered in alphabetical order or what’s in each volume by publishing
order. This way you can decide if it’s better for you to order single
back issues or develop your reference library with back issue volumes. Quantity
price breaks start with your choice of three volumes.
What’s the pricing?
To check out the pricing, view the printable order
form or go to the on-line store. And don’t forget
to check on any special web browser offers!
Why do back issues cost more than getting subscription
issues as they come out?
All our back issues are reprinted (not copied) with the same printing process
as subscription issues, but we have them printed in a much smaller quantity
than the subscription issues and we have to keep them in inventory to make
them available.
See information on getting a subscription so you can continue to get them
each month as they are published.
Choose one of several ways to order by going to the ordering
information page or submit an order right away using our secured on-line store.
