Issue #179 December 2005

This latch is designed for small two-leaf gates. It features a drop bar that secures one leaf at the bottom and a latch that secures the second leaf to the first. When the drop bar is lifted, it pivots a latch that frees itself and the other leaf. A catch engages a notch in the drop bar near the top of its travel, keeping it in place. Lift the drop bar slightly, rotate the catch out of the way and drop the bar to secure the leaves again.

These power hammer dies were made by Don Asbee for making a variety of ball shapes. Don uses pipe rather than solid stock to make the balls.

Don Asbee, and Larry Cooper are featured for the bowl making techniques they use.
