This post mounted mail box is a concept with many possible variations. The mail box itself can be the off-the-shelf variety, or custom made like the one shown with a counterbalance self-closing door. The flag is pulled straight out to indicate pick up.

The base for this bench is substantial enough to outlast many wooden tops. A power hammer is needed to draw out the legs using 2” square stock.
