Forged leaves are a common motif for gates and ironwork in general. Our trellis gate takes this idea one step further. Climbing vines planted near the in-ground hinge of this gate are trained to provide a natural leaf motif.

These “feet” represent solutions for terminating a square bar used for furniture legs and various other weight bearing applications. Issue #134 shows six variations.

Issue #84 of the Blacksmith's Journal featured three variations of decorative chains. This month we've come up with two more of our own, plus two sent in by Doug Merkel, Bear Mountain Forge, Vilas, NC.
