Issue 128 explores several ways to make switch plates and offers a total
of six designs. All of these plates are made of at least two pieces to
provide a recess in the plate to accommodate the switch. |
| The trick to an even finish on forged iron is in the scale. This month,
we take a look on how to remove the scale formed during forging and reestablish
it as a smooth dark gray tone. The top coat is automotive lacquer with
a flattening additive to get just the right sheen. |

We start a new feature this month where we work backwards from existing
forged work to discover "how it was Made". This month we have
a pair of 6" dividers sent in by Reed Oswald of Kodiak AK to analyze.
Step by step drawings show how to replicate these dividers. |
