||A typical set of forge fire tools consists of a straight poker, rake-end
poker and a shovel. The set shown this month includes all three tools,
each with a hook on the handle for hanging on the edge of the forge hearth
or on a tool rack.
|The feet for the C2K gate shown in issue 118 are attached to the heel
bar of the gate. Issue 119 shows the method by which the heel bar is forged
so that the feet can be riveted to it.
||Volunteers from the Blacksmiths Association of Missouri (BAM) including
Don Asbee, Steve Austin, Bob Bergman, Doug Hendrickson, Walt Hull, Stephen
McGehee, Andrew MacDonald, Bill Miller, John Murray, Rick Smith, Kirk Sullens
and Stan Winkler converged at Stan Winkler’s shop in Ste. Genevieve
Missouri on May 15 to begin work on the C2K gates featured in past issues
